Eurythmics - "Sex Crime (1984)"
This is just what happened when I stepped outside. This is just what I said when I opened my mouth. It's just what we did when were alone. It's just what I wrote when I saw the paper, the lines, the tip of the pencil. I hit the key, and couldn't stop. I turned the key and couldn't go back. I went blind before, while it was happening. I knew what I was doing, but even if I didn't, it would have happened. We just got up there and this is what came out. We just got close and this is what happened. I'm so proud. I'm so sorry. [Buy]

Posted by Scott Bateman at April 19, 2007 12:27 PMyou're so right Scott!
this was great back in '84, still great!
but not sure how well it would be received were it released in today's more paranoid times!
I'm also a fan of "Double Plus Good" from the same album...
Posted by Scott Bateman at April 19, 2007 9:37 PMThis one I don't have to download. Whew -- bad times. For the record: I bought that LP new. When it came out. Sue me -- I was thirteen.
Posted by wcw at April 19, 2007 11:02 PMSuch mixed feelings about this one...I'm shocked...though not surprised. I'm in the "LOVEIT" camp, and it's fun. We don't mind songs from 1984 that sound like their from 1984 about 1984 which is based on 1984. Pop isn't everything, but it is something, and this one has a political twist, as well as the temptation of taboo.
Posted by Joel at April 20, 2007 12:52 PMSo great.
Annie Lennox sing, baby.
Sexcrime: worst song on a shockingly good album. The first trip-hop record.
